MP Congratulates Skepple on Goal

Dr Jacqui Quinn-LeandroAntigua St John's - St George MP Dr Jacqui Quinn-Leandro was "ecstatic" to witness her constituent, Kerry "Arab" Skepple, score the lone goal in the FIFA World Cup Qualifier match on Friday night at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium to advance Antigua & Barbuda to the semi-finals next June.

Antigua & Barbuda beat Haiti 1:0 to advance to Group A matches, where they will meet Jamaica, Guatemala, and the USA as they continue their campaign to qualify for FIFA World Cup 2014 in Brazil.

Dr Quinn-Leandro, the substantive minister responsible for sports, was among the thousands of Antiguans & Barbudans witnessing the game. She immediately sent a text message of congratulations to Skepple after he placed the ball firmly in the back of the net, eight minutes before close of play, to give Antigua & Barbuda the historic victory.

“Congrats Kerry! Antigua and Barbuda loves you. We are indebted to you. God has blessed you with a special talent and you have honed your skills to bring us to this historic moment. Your performance was simply brilliant! May God continue to bless you richly,” the minister’s message to Skepple read.

Dr Quinn-Leandro, continued her message by congratulating Skepple on behalf of the constituents of St George.

“As your parliamentary representative I speak for all nationals in the St. George community and particularly Pigott's Village when I say you have done us all proud!!!” she said.

Greetings to all, and congratulations to all the players who have made this moment possible for us. There is no doubt in my mind, that, just like our soil produces the best tasting pineapple in the world, amomg other things, our dna/genes (Our foreparents were of the best human genes to be transported from Africa to the west; remember, Barbuda was a breeding home for the European Slave Traders), tenacity, endurance, intellect are all qualities that can propel us to the forefront of many sports both physical and mental.
I hope our authorities will now see the need and necessity for professional trainning centers in all sports that we play.
Jamaica has "Reggae Boys", what will be the FEARED NAME of our team?
