Amazing, this is a perenial problem and those mentioned know it.
A simple solyution would be to aerate the water as the smell is due to a lack of oxygen in the water, hence the decomposition of organic matter, a perfectly natural process becomes anerobic, this is what creates the smell, anerobicc meaning with out oxygen !
But,I guess the experts know better!

McKinnons Pond is claimed by a number of individuals and families. Most of these claim of ownership are dubious at best. One such family being the Wexelman family who owns Kings Casino and is building an enormous mansion at Cobersons Point nearby.
What does Public Works have to do with this if private individuals claim ownership? Shouldn't the Minister of Health be ordering th owners to clean up this environmental hazzard?
Why isin't the Minister " asleep at the switch" Min. of Tourism out promoting Antigua and Barbuda rather than helping out private owners?

Where is the Minister for the Environment.

Forget about McKinnons Pond. Worry about what the Minister of the Environment is doing at Follys. Add to that the 250 acres of the old Follys Estate currently being developed. The human watse going into the streams that leads to Body Pond is going chase you all to the Mount St. John's emergency room
The Minister of Action at Follys is missing in Action at McKinnons. Where in the world is Minister Baptiste? We were promised a land use Plan in May.... then in June, now he is mum on the issue.

At last it topok someone like Mr. Dundas and Mr Lionel Miachel to get involved in this matter to seek a resolution.
I have made so many complaints about this matter as a regular user of that beach. Its my favourite and I have heard and seen tourists and locals leave that beach because of the stench.
We need more people like these two gentlemen in the Govt sector to act instead of all the talk all and do nothing politicians.
Th anks gentlemen

McKinnons pond/swamp

Swamps do indeed "stink", as they are a natural filter for pollutants and sediments. Over the past few decades, we have largely ignored the reason they exist just behind the prettiest beaches in the Caribbean. The natural inlet/outlet for the McKinnons swamp lies on that stretch of road between Marina Bay and the "Fish & Chips" stand. When this land was built up in the mid 80's to create a road connecting **enson Bay to Runaway Bay, it wreaked havoc on the natural exchange of salt water and the outlet for the swamp filtered water. Until that is restored, the residents of the area will forever be plagued.

While other stakeholders are showing some interest, Where is Minister Hilson Baptiste, Minister of Agricuture, Lands, Envronment and Housing? Funny thing he lives in the area Up until now he has been a news hog, making weekly pronouncements while he didn't see a camera he wasn't ready for. He has been a bloviator on every issue except the environment.
Tr uth be told, he is the enemy of the Environmental Affairs Unit that is suppose to be under his jurisdiction. Baptiste is one of Antigua's disasters but media is mostly about gossip and the public is not sufficently enlightened or aware of the issues of substance that affects your well being.
