I am an Antiguan I happen to be married to a foreigner who is employed by an Antiguan Citizen who does not pay his medical benefit or social securiy or education levy, he works on sundays and public holidays for a days pay just to make ends meet. We have three children, I am glad he can find work when I cant, and he allows himself to be abused like in the days of slavery because we have to eat. Now you tell me who is to blame that this abuse in being perpertrated , the foreigner or the good for nothing Antiguan Citizen who abuses him because he can get away with it ? Forigners do cheapen the job market it their desperation to get some kind of work but it is the greedy, moraly degenerate Antiguan employers who are responsibility not the foreigners.

You can go to Epi and beg for money in the parking lot. Apparently that's all the rage now.

I have been checking to see if I am blessed enough to have someone send me a message telling me that there is a job available.I have been sending out applications after applications but to know avail.
All this back and fourth blogging about things that can not help me or my children as I tell them once again"mommy can't afford nothing but noodles".
Can't even pay my rent...........but you know what........desperate times call for desperate measures and sometimes one has to place ones self in anothers position to understand.
Hello......all I need is a job.......and I am desperate......right now it doesn't matter what it is ......but as long as it is legal.

As a nurse myself I have to by law to renew my licence each year to enable me to stay on the Nursing register. This is to ensure I keep up to date with nursing practice which ensures parient safety. Contact the ministry of Health for further information or go on the Nursing and Midwifery Council web page.

@ Echo Can you define "Nursing Care" You need to renew your drivers licence every year to drive legally but you have not forgotton how to drive because you do not have a valid licence do you? I am sure more than 90% of practicing nurses have not renewed their licences annually. the registration act has been in force since 1954, this is just another government ploy to dig every penny it can out of the population. So tell me do you need a nursing licence to give an elderly person the medicines that they would be taking on their own in their own homes and do you need a nursing licence to bath and feed an elderly person in a nursing home. If I have offended the non nationals that was not my intention, In times of economic crisis it is the governments job to limit the flow of non nationals competing in the job markets for the benefit of the local population, why invite guest when there is little food for you and your children? Who feels it knows it I am sure the young lady seeking employment is not interested in my home Planet.

@Talk to me after you have sent a resume and cover letter to every company who advertises in the observer. .After they know all your personal details address telephone number qualification they do not afford you the courtesy of a response because hell the job is really already taken, the advertisement is a formality for the Labour Department. I got this from the horses mouth my application is with the Labour Dept.
I doubt the blogger is employed today. I am also a Nurse I was told it is illegal to practice Nursing without current registration. Nursing care facilities pay $1200.00 per month something is better than nothing but that is an insult to the Nursing Proffession.
There are more ads in the Observer, try if you have the stomach for it.

May I suggest that if you don't have a "job" for the lady, then don't comment. She is asking if anyone knows of "a" job. If you don't know of "a" job, then don't comment. Use this blog for what it was intended for.

In answer to Audrey Taylor, I feel offended at your comments. I live in UK and can tell you we dont get a job just because we live here. If a person from the caribbean holds a work permit and has a better qualification they get the job, and rightly so. I have lived in the caribbean and love the people however it is frowned upon if a person from outside is given work before them. So Audrey look inside before you look out

Why not create jobs for yourself. If really want to work offer your services. Don't talk about non-nationals and hold pity parties for yourselves.

The person who really wants work will start a job. Stop being negative and start being creative.

Carib Cable is looking for a customer service supervisor and a Spa is looking for a reservation Clerk and Receptionist. The positions are avertising in Monday's edition of the daily Observer. In my experience it is a waste of time to apply those ads are for positions filled by foriegn residents and are placed there for immigration and work permit requirement. but you can try. Also you can submit your qualifications to the Labour department, but that is another waste of time in my experience. I have been unmployed ofr 10 months
